2024 was the hottest year on record, at +1.5\u00b0C<\/strong> above pre-industrial levels. And if projections are to be believed, we could reach +3\u00b0C by 21001<\/sup><\/strong>. The consequences of this global warming are already here: increasingly frequent heat waves, coastal erosion, more intense floods\u2026 in short, the climate is not doing things by halves.<\/p>\n

These disruptions are no longer marginal: they directly affect value chains, disrupt supply chains, and weaken economic models. The cost of inaction is already colossal: 738 billion euros in climate-related damages in Europe since 19802<\/sup><\/strong>, and the trend is accelerating. At this rate, all our economic activities are at risk.<\/p>\n

In this context, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions is no longer enough. It is now necessary to act on two fronts simultaneously: slow down warming and, at the same time, learn to live with its present and future impacts. This implies transforming our operating methods, integrating new reflexes, and involving all teams in a structured approach. And we have everything to gain! Prevention could cost up to six times less than the cost of damages3<\/sup><\/strong>. It is now that we must build the internal capacities that will lay the foundations for a resilient company, in a climate that is already changing\u2026 Because refusing adaptation means choosing to suffer rather than to anticipate.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

IMPLEMENTING AN ADAPTATION APPROACH INTERNALLY:

OFTEN A COMPLEX PROCESS<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Adaptation is a subject that goes far beyond the usual silos, forcing connections between different business units, functions, sites, and suppliers, to reconnect strategic decisions to the field<\/strong>. Launching an adaptation approach within one's company also requires a long-term vision, which can be a luxury when each day resembles an operational race against the clock.<\/p>\n

And yet, without this vision, we remain in reaction mode: fighting the fire rather than preventing the risks. Launching an adaptation approach (or not) is also an economic equation: what will be the cost of inaction? What is the return on investment for prevention? Engaging in dialogue with the finance department then becomes essential.<\/p>\n

Finally, an adaptation approach calls for innovation while requiring a clear direction and collective commitment. Because without strong leadership and daily relays, even the best climate strategies remain well-organized PDFs in a shared folder.<\/p>\n

In short: adaptation is not just a technical plan, it's a collective dynamic that must engage the entire organization.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To help organizations initiate internal adaptation, we facilitate Climate Change Adaptation Workshops (ADACC)<\/a>.
