INNOVATE COLLECTIVELY TO DEVELOP

BIODEGRADABLE COSMETICS

A CONSORTIUM TO ADDRESS 3 MAJOR CHALLENGES:

ENVIRONMENTAL:

INCREASING THE BIODEGRADABILITY OF COSMETICS

REGULATORY:

ANTICIPATING TOMORROW'S REQUIREMENTS

COMMERCIAL:

MEETING CONSUMER EXPECTATIONS

Water quality is degraded by the release of substances that end up in the environment. In this context, the biodegradability of cosmetic formulas constitutes a central focus of the work of the Formul'Action consortium.

The consortium positions itself in anticipation of changes in European and French regulatory frameworks. This work relies on the expertise of recognized players in the water sector, mobilized to provide technical knowledge and operational feedback.

Meeting the growing demands of consumers, who are increasingly attentive to the consequences of their consumption habits.

TO ADDRESS THESE CHALLENGES, 3 SUCCESSIVE STEPS

IDENTIFY

The main categories of cosmetic ingredients needing to be substituted.

The first phase, completed in January 2026, established an unprecedented knowledge base: over 6,000 cosmetic substances were analyzed and classified according to their persistence and biodegradability properties, and the associated cosmetic functions were mapped. This circular analysis approach now offers a clear vision of priority transformation levers.
